Submitting Multimedia-Based Manuscripts
Overview: We are excited to introduce a new section in our journal dedicated to multimedia-based manuscripts, where authors can submit articles that integrate audio and/or video content along with their written work. This section aims to showcase traditional or folk practices through a combination of descriptive text and multimedia formats, such as audio or video clips, providing an engaging, immersive experience for readers.
Submission Requirements:
Abstract (200 Words):
Provide a concise abstract summarizing the content of your article.
Include the focus of the traditional or folk practice, its cultural significance, and the multimedia content (audio or video) you are submitting.
Clearly state the relevance of the audio or video clip in relation to the written text.
Article Text (1000 Words):
The manuscript should include a detailed description of the traditional or folk practice.
Ensure the content is well-organized, with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion.
Provide background information on the practice, its cultural context, and any relevant history or social significance.
Discuss any observations or personal experiences related to the practice that can add value to the understanding of the subject.
Please ensure that your writing is clear, concise, and accessible to a broad audience.
Multimedia Content (Audio/Video):
Audio/Video Length: The multimedia clip must be between 2 to 30 minutes in duration.
Content: The multimedia should reflect the traditional or folk practice in a meaningful way, whether it's a performance, demonstration, or interview with practitioners.
Quality: Ensure the video or audio is of good quality (clear audio, high-resolution video, and stable visuals). If it is an audio recording, ensure there is minimal background noise. For video content, ensure it is well-lit and the visuals are clear.
File Formats: Submit the multimedia content in a common, accessible format (MP3, MP4, or MOV). If you are submitting a video, ensure that it is not too large (ideally under 500MB).
Licensing and Permissions: Ensure you have obtained all necessary permissions for people featured in your multimedia and have the rights to publish it. If applicable, submit a consent form with your multimedia content.
Multimedia Description:
Provide a brief (150-200 words) description of the multimedia content. Include details about what the reader/viewer is experiencing in the audio/video, such as the context of the scene or performance, any important cues or instructions for understanding, and the significance of the content.
The language of audio or video could be in any language and if other English, sub-titles in English is required
This description will help readers understand the context of the multimedia clip, especially for those who may be unable to access or view the content directly.
Submission Process:
Manuscripts and multimedia content must be submitted via the journal's online submission platform or email (depending on the journal’s process).
Ensure that all files, including the manuscript, abstract, multimedia files, and any necessary forms (e.g., consent), are included in your submission.
Indicate the multimedia format in the submission system and ensure that the file sizes are within the submission limits.
Review Process:
Submitted manuscripts and multimedia will be reviewed by subject matter experts, who will assess the quality, clarity, and relevance of both the written and multimedia content.
Please be prepared to make revisions based on reviewer feedback, particularly in terms of the integration of multimedia with the manuscript and its contribution to the article's overall narrative.
Ethical Considerations:
Be mindful of cultural sensitivity and respect for the traditions and practices you are documenting.
Obtain proper consent from any individuals featured in your multimedia content, ensuring that they understand how their image or voice will be used in the publication.
Acknowledge the source or origin of any traditional knowledge, performances, or practices that are part of your multimedia submission.
